Comment on Being Blogger:

The latest one that I read lately was about a 3 year old girl and a dirty, evil ******* called Craig Sweeney. He took her from her house and subjected her to a sickening act, dumped her and he can get parole in 5 yrs time. Now the words that I want to say can not be put on this blog and what I really think about what should happen to him as got physically stuck in my throat. (not).

I did wonder when I started this module what it had to do with Social Care but I have enjoyed learning the topics. It maked me think hard about what is really BAD.
This field trip I really can't think of anything too interesting that people would enjoy. Trust me I'm not normally this boring? But I'll decide before we break for summer.

Bad Cinema
I was watching the film and thought that I was the same age or older than these 'Kids' in 1995 and I was amazed not because I'm a prune or anything but on what they actually was doing cause I never dreamed of doing such a thing. Basically I never seen 'Kids' before and here is a story cut short:-
The main characters were Telly & Casper and we follow their quest to sleep around. Telly liked young virgins who he told sweet nothings to, to get them to sleep with him... Anyone older would never fall for the bull that comes out of his mouth cause he's so bloody smug you would feel like hitting him and his friend Casper was a drunk and drug user who ended up raping Jenny when she was drunk and stoned surrounded by sleeping children.... need I go on...
I never felt sorry for Telly at all, but later on in the film it turns out that Jenny had caught HIV from him this is the guy who only apparently slept with virgins.... I did feel really sorry for her, cause she only slept with ONE guy and her friend who she got tested had slept with NINE and was clear. I felt the message that Larry Clark was portraying was that it can only take ONE time to have unprotected sex and catch AIDS or other STI's . That is why their was a lot of problems trying to release this film, because the individual never wanted to know that their child could be carrying on like the 'KIDS' in the movie... If I am honest the smoking, taking drugs and having sex is what society see as ADULT stuff, it would have been a waste of Larry Clarke's time using ADULTS that's why he used 'KIDS' instead to make it shocking and no one would have learnt the lesson he was trying to get make. There was a scene that I found disturbing when loads of kids started fighting this one guy and nearly left the guy dead. This reminded me of what is happening in the world now. I have seen this with my whole eyes and its not good at all. To me KIDS in society nowadays are either doing ONE or ALL of these things fighting, drinking, taking drugs and the raise in sexual transmitted infection has rocked so its like history repeating its self, which is really really BAD.
I just wish that 'KIDS' wasn't so quick too grow up.

Body Modification
On week 8 the lecture was Body Modification. This lecture was an eye opener and I really enjoyed it. When I 1st read the module I honestly thought it was going to just talk about the what was WRONG with tattoos and piercing. But I was amazed on what actually came under Body Modification. So yes I'm have changed my body..... I'll tell you why???
Starting from the top I cut and dye my hair, wear make-up. I have piercing in my nose and ears and I also have a tattoo on my back, my body has changed due to pregnancy. I usually wear high heels, so there you go from head to toe. I have done BODY MODIFICATION.....
I really wouldn't have put having my hair cut & dyed, wearing make-up, high heels and being pregnant in the same column. Its what most people do, unless their religion tells them not to, but its the "NORM". Tattooing and piercings are what the individual choose to do, so to me that would be Body Modification. The lecturer was right when he said that people choose to change the way they look through dieting, anorexia or bulimia because of what they see in the media. The Media emphases differences and it shows whats in or whats not. Take this size O phrase. Why would society think its RIGHT to have a body of a seven year, but think a fuller figure is UNATTRACTIVE..... If we was in a different country a man would look and find a size O figure UNATTRACTIVE, but a fuller figure ATTRACTIVE. I wear make- up and do my hair not because I want to meet a man. I do it cause I enjoy doing it... I have to admit when I was younger I use to wear very HIGH shoes, to go out. Because I'm short and look young for my age. I never felt that comfortable going out in flat shoes and without make -up.....
All the information that I learnt was very useful. I never knew that under Judaism they would not bury a Jew if they had a tattoo, now that is control over someone and if they did, someone would either cut the tattoo away or cut of the limb. Now that is drastic measures, but its all to do with their religion... Most religion think GOD created you, so to change it from the natural state would be an attack on him. I really don't agree with that cause some people change their appearance due to illness or because they are missing body parts.... Everywhere around the world have experienced Body Modification, some of them was down right ABUSE....
This terrible ABUSE started way back in history. There is branding that the slave masters and Nazis did to the slaves and the Jews. Its degrading because they branded them so their not a actual person. They lose their identity the moment this CRUEL and WICKED thing is done they become whatever name or number the masters pick for them....

I was shocked that tattoos seem to be like clothes and come back into fashion. I like learning about Maori tribe that had tattoos that looked like masks on their face. It was really their name and what they represented, everyone had a different design. I like that the men thought that they should receive the same pain as women and decide to tattoo their whole body.....

Being too Religious
I don't think that it is WRONG to have a religion. It is always good to believe in your faith. But I really hate when people try to force their religion on me, that's what is WRONG. I hate when people ask me if I've been christened and when I reply no they go on to say I should because it would help me be a BETTER person, but I've managed 26yrs and ain't a BAD person. I could be in town and a religious person chanting from the bible, that doesn't bother me because their trying to pass on the word of god....
I am aware that every religion has members that believe too much and interpret the message of what they hear to do BAD THINGS

comment on being bad blog
Hi Heather,
I have to comment well here goes...
I agree with you that Robin Hood is my favourite and I personality don't see him as a bandit. But if I was Robin Hood I would steal from the celebrities because they are soooooo rich, especially when there are poor people in the world who are suffering every day amd can't even afford a meal.....

Bandits and Outlaws
http://www.robinhood.ltd.uk/robinhood/index.html
I was surprised when I found out that Robin Hood might not be real.... To me Robin Hood is not a bandit or a outlaw. I'm remembering the cartoon and seeing the good that he did to help the poor people who could not afford anything. Fair enough he stole, but he only stole from the rich and gave to the poor in my eyes. Robin Hood is a HERO.
http://www.ci.st-joseph.mo.us/history/jessejames.cfm
This is Jesse James (1810-1888) To me this man is a true bandit and outlaw. It's true people saw him as the western Robin Hood. But to me he was evil, he robbed banks, train stations and coaches. He seemed too always kill people when carrying out these robbers. He joined the bushwackers, the gorilla unit who went around killing people house by house, this shows you how EVIL he was and how he seemed to love doing it , he had no conscience. But society thought he was a GOOD guy that was forced to be like this because of the circumstance that was happening. The American Civil war. No way is he like Robin Hood, out to achieve the same things. Jesse James did it totally different I wouldn't class him as a HERO he is a BANDIT through and through.
http://www.geocities.com/capitolhill/lobby/3935/
This is Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd. He was seen as a Robin Hood who only targeted the rich to help the poor. He was a BANDIT but will always be known as a HERO. When he died 40,000 people gathered for his funeral. It was the largest funeral in Oklahoma. Fair enough he did rob banks , but it is said that he had morals and truth. He will always be remembered as a legend and a song has made that happen...Here is the lyrics to the song.

Infidelity
The week 5 lecture was really interesting and I found out a lot of useful information.
I believe that INFIDELITY/CHEATING is wrong. But if I am being honest only because I have experienced the betrayal first hand. I was cheated on when I was 18-19, by a guy who I had been going out for 2yrs. At the time it was heartbreaking, simply because we was friends and had agreed to be honest no matter what.( guess he broke that rule ha ha)
I agree with the question that Meena asked in lecture:-
What is it about ourselves why we feel broken hearted and why does it damage our self esteem?
When I found out it did knock my confidence and I started to think about why he did it in the first place and that people he knew had known and no one had told me. I believe its heart breaking because of the humilation that you face and how it makes you feel. But after awhile I woke up and thought it was something that was wrong with him and I wasn't to blame, I was the innocent one that put my trust in the wrong guy thats all... It did change how I trusted other guys in the future and it took me along time before I gave my all and let my guard down, because after your trust as been knocked you hold this barrier up that you don't want any man to break, so you won't feel the same pain and hurt again...
There are reasons why people cheat I thought it was just because of the physical contact, but it can be the emotional connection as well some researchers believe it all in your genes. Don't know how true that really is, feel free to read more
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3783031.stm
I bumped into that guy, he apolognised and mentioned that he was sorry, that he wasn't ready for the seriousness of the relationship bah, bah. We are now good friends that meet now and again. I would never dream of CHEATING so I deserve the same RESPECT back. As that saying goes "Once a CHEAT always a CHEAT" I really hope one day that would change, but I really doubt it.

Comment on frans blog
Hi fran,
I have to comment well here goes nothing. I agree with what your saying people look at smoking like it's really BAD, but there are worser things like drug abuse, alcohol abuse etc. I also agree that everyone is aware of the health risks because they are plastered everywhere, its up to the individual if they decide to take the risk.. Yes films do portray smoking as sex symbols or made to look hard, they may have done in the past but now times have changed and its so like the norm , even through people and government see it as bad, is it really
For years smoking has always been the only pleasure low working class people had and the government wants to stop it????????

Masturbation
Fair enough it's still a taboo subject that people wouldn't be swinging from the chandelier's saying that they MASTURBATE, but it's not that BAD....
During the lecture I find out a lot of useful information that I was not aware of, on how the history came about and the painful devices that was invented to stop people MASTURBATING. It was quite shocking that people thought if you MASTURBATED you would end up getting Epilepsy or even dying.....
I know people felt uncomfortable with the questions that was being asked, even I did. I feel that if MASTURBATION didn't have a stigma attached to it then people would feel comfortable saying YES they masturbate. After all thats what happens regularly in the world today and we have to forget the stigma and let people carry on enjoying what they do best MASTURBATING
Men especially need to continue doing it because researchers have proven that masturbating can help prevent prostate cancer. Look at the website for more information:

Peer Show
In lecture we watched Peer Show. The main character was a man who fancied this woman and tried so hard to gain access to her computer through her password. In the end he find it out and started reading her private and personal e-mails.
The question we was asked was:-
When does a concerned interested in someone's activities become stalking?
There will always be stalkers that take it to far and end up being so obsessed they kill their victims, like what Mark Chapman did to John Lennon in 1980 outside his New York apartment.Mark Chapman saw John not has a celebrity but much more his mind had him thinking all things that wasn't sane and normal. Breakfast in Tiffany
We watched breakfast in Tiffany and was asked 3 questions.
Is it prostitution to take money from someone who is expecting sex, but then not to supply it?
To me that all depends on whether the person says that they going to exchange sex for money or if they just trying to tease them enough so that they can use them in to getting quick money, so that would be the guy's fault for falling for this trick.... There are women out there that get anything they want by telling a guy what they want to hear. Is this prostitution if a girl is out and a guy buys her drinks and nothing has been mentioned about him getting sex and he thinks, because he brought the drinks he's getting some. That's all just cross wires and could end up being very dangerous with the woman ending up getting attacked.
It is better for both if right from the start they are both clear on what's going to happen and if the man is looking for a prostitute then he should go and find one that would fulfill his wishes.. money for sex.......
If it isn't prostitution, then is it more or less socially respectable?
I would say it's less socially respectable, but everyone has different standards and there are lots of women who like to get as much as they can from men, just because some man buys you something doesn't mean they have to get sex in return...
If it is prostitution, then how much is a reasonable change?
That's a hard question because I don't know the going rate they change for prostitution, so I would guess it would all depend how desperate the person who needed the money would change. So that could vary

Family Guy
We watched Family Guy a cartoon where the mother was shoplifting. The 1st question asked was if shoplifting was different to any other kind of theft?
Yes shoplifting is different. After all your only stealing from the company and they can always replace the item back and the company. Fair enough they lose out money wise but the company hasn't got emotionally attachment to that pieces of item. People see stealing as they are not going out their to physically hurt anybody, which isn't the case if someone robs you of you personal items, you feel emotionally and physically hurt, which is not the case if you shoplift from a shop....
The 2nd question was why do people who can afford to buy things shoplift them instead?
I really believe it's down to peer pressure if there friends are doing it, then they want to do it as well. It could also be the buzz they get when they steal something and get away with it. That it ends up like an addiction, which they can't stop even if they get caught. Even celebrities like Winona Ryder steals she can afford mostly everything, but she chose to steal its got to be the thrill and power they get when they leave the shop knowing that they have something in their pocket that they never paid for. Winona was caught but it was nothing to her because she could pay the fine or whatever punishment she received, so she never really learnt her lesson.
Smoking
I wasn't at the smoking lecture due to the lovely weather, but I managed to look at the handout.
There are 4 catergories:-
1) you smoke regularly
2) you smoke occassionally
3) you smoked and gave up
4) you are a non smoker
Having looked at the catergories I am the occassionally smoker who mostly smokes when alcohol touchs my system and sends some mad nicotine craving desire or when i'm feeling stressed.
I can see people feel strongly against smoking and most non smokers have had family or friends that have been affected because of smoking, but I believe everyone has that attitude where they believe that it would never happen to them.........
But at the end of the day it is up to the individual if they want to smoke or not. The health warnings are advertised everywhere so they would always know the dangers....
In films they always portray the men to look hard and macho because they smoke and the woman are made to look sexy. To me smoking is a lifestyle choice you either do it or you don't.. I never ever felt pressured by my friends or films to start smoking it was my choice, it may not be the right decision but there are WORSER things out there that I could be doing?
If my friends don't want me smoking around them, I would not smoke around them. I do respect other people's opinions, but anyway every non smoker can be happy when the smoking ban comes into place, but yet again maybe not when they add tax on something else.....

first weblog
When I signed up for being bad I had no idea what people would consider has being really BAD. But after reading everyone's confessions in the first lecture I guess we all have different views on what is bad and Iam not has bad as I once thought (ha ha) But I do know this course is going to be an good eye opener and it is also a way to find out what is really BAD and I'm looking forward to the other topics.
I'm still thinking where we can go on our field trip that would be really bad (ha ha) I'll keep you posted.
